“The Laurel Highlanders Pipes & Drums was established in 1975 by
John Duxbury, Jr. and was named for the Laurel Highlands, a ridge known
for its Mountain Laurel, our state flower. We march under the flag of
Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and use the state emblem as our
cap badge. Our kilt is made of the Douglas tartan, which was also chosen
by our pipe major, as the colors blue/green/white that are representative of the
colors in the Laurel Highlands. We were 2nd place Champion Supreme of
Grade V of the E.U.S.P.B.A.* in 1996.”
